The employer is the one who applies for the work permit, whether he is a business or an individual. What does it take for an alien who would like to work in France to find a job?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In France, the Public Employment Service is called P\u00f4le emploi. This governmental agency offers services to ALL job seekers regardless of their nationality and is in charge of the payment of the unemployment benefits to the workers who qualify for it, which means that they\u2019ve been working in France for a minimum of 6 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Any service offered by P\u00f4le emploi is free, for job seekers and companies as well. Businesses are happy to post their job offers at\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/pole-emploi.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pole-emploi.fr<\/a>\u00a0which is the main French job board. P\u00f4le emploi displays a minimum of 500,000 job offers a day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Anybody can check\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/pole-emploi.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pole-emploi.fr<\/a>\u00a0job offers. You don\u2019t have to be registered as a job seeker or have unemployment benefits to answer an ad. The website also offers many free online services to help you in your job search and the application processes.<span class=\"\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Go to\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.emploi-store.fr\/portail\/accueil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.emploi-store.fr\/portail\/accueil<\/a>\u00a0to find services, websites and apps in order to:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Find a list of companies which are hiring in a specific location or area,<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>get help writing your resume and cover letter,<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>make a video resume,<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>get ready for a job interview,<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>and even learn French as a Second Language (called \u201cFLE\u201d in French) !<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pole-emploi.fr\/accueil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">P\u00f4le emploi portal<\/a><span class=\"\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>includes the job offers from all major job boards (Monster, Indeed, Jobolo, Jobijoba, as well as unions like the business union of French Hotels and<span class=\"\">\u00a0<\/span>Restaurants \u2026). We also advise you to check out other job boards where you can find specific job offers for American natives like:\u00a0<span class=\"\" lang=\"FR\"><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/paris.craigslist.fr\/?lang=en&amp;cc=gb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"\" lang=\"EN-US\">Craigslist France<\/span><\/a><\/span>,\u00a0<span class=\"\" lang=\"FR\"><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fusac.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"\" lang=\"EN-US\">Le magazine FUSAC<\/span><\/a><\/span>, and also to visit the American library of Paris. The\u00a0<span class=\"\" lang=\"FR\"><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/americanlibraryinparis.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"\" lang=\"EN-US\">Librairie Americaine de Paris<\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>has a physical job board (which does not exist on line).<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">We also advise you to register on the website\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/fr.viadeo.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Viadeo<\/a>, the French LinkedIn, used by a lot of French companies and allowing you to have more visibility. Of course, you can use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/\">LinkedIn<\/a> itself as well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong class=\"\">Differences between French and American Resumes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li class=\"\">The titles and names of the diplomas. We recommend you to check equivalents and translations.<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">In France, you have to include a picture and your date of birth, which is not recommended in the USA.<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">The experience written on the resume in France is often limited to the position with few details.<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">Don&#8217;t forget to add your level of French, English and other languages with your language diplomas or language test scores. It helps a lot!<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">Careful with the date formatting! In France, the format is DD\/MM\/YYYY.
