Today we\u2019ll take you to the North of France at the complete opposite of the Marseille area, in the city of Lille.<\/p>\n

Because it is located a few miles from the Belgian border, the culture in the city is influenced by its proximity with North-Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n

In Lille and its surrounding neighborhoods, people speak French obviously, but they also have a dialect that is called \u201cLe Ch\u2019ti\u201d which means \u201cIt\u2019s me\u201d. One can recognize easily the strong Northern accent people have over there!<\/p>\n

Lille has not always been a French territory. It\u2019s been part of France only since the seventeenth century, thanks to the King Louis the XIV.<\/p>\n
